Promoting dementia awareness

Raising awareness about dementia can help people recognise the early signs. The more awareness that is raised, the greater potential there is in terms of how we can help others with this condition. Promoting Dementia Awareness helps to increase understanding and support for those affected by memory loss.

A person’s quality of life is influenced by a sense of their self-worth, which includes feeling connected to their community. Simple actions can create dementia-friendly communities where people living with the condition can continue to socialise with others, go to the local shop, travel on public transport, and visit others, and take part in local activities for as long as possible.

Any action or communication that is geared toward changing how others understand and respond to those with dementia is advocacy and gives a voice to those living with dementia.

Dementia Friendly Actions

Living Well with Dementia invites all members of our community – schools, clubs, businesses and neighbours- to contribute to making their society a dementia-friendly community.

Partnerships

Living Well with Dementia works closely with other community groups to support older people and to spread awareness about dementia.
